Happy New Year.........

My grandmother always had "black eyed peas" New Year's day. And yes, I ate my black eyed peas today.
Menu

Ham Steaks

(so that I will "root forward" and not "scratch back",

like I would if I ate Chicken today. Again, from grandmother).
Black Eyed Peas
(for "good-Luck").
Tunip Greens
(just because they sounded good).
Biscuits with lots of butter
(they always sound good).

In love............

I fell in "love", did I say in love? I was gifted a small "lot" of Alfred Mainzers post cards. Most of his work was created in the late 40's and early 50's. I can't get over these sweet little postcards. Printed in Belgium on linen ( I have a special place in my heart for anything printed on linen paper). The more you look at them, the more you discover.

Ahhhhh.........

I'm done with shopping for Christmas.....(sigh of relief). Everything is wrapped and ready to ship in the morning. I really do enjoy Christmas shopping, it's the traffic I can do without. Anyone who lives in this area will tell you that venturing out onto Monroe st., the Saturday before Christmas is not a smart move to begin with. And then up ahead what do I see.....No, it was not Santa and his Reindeer, but an fender bender that further made things very, very, slow.

Button Noser..........

Bella always finds the best spot. When all errands have been ran, the laundry is done, and the apartment is cleaned, (well somewhat anyway) the Christmas movies find their way to the dvd player...........and can I stretch out on the couch? I think not.

Reading now.........

I just finished reading "The Violets of March"....Written by Sarah Jio. Very good, very Seattle. This book has everything I love. A family mystery about long lost love, near the Ocean.
Just started reading......A Greenwich Village apartment, a young writer and her roommate writer, that happens to be a "ghost". I was hoping the ghost was from the 1800's, (and so was she). But he is from the 1970's and has never heard of a lot of things we have now which interesting to think about.

Tried and loved...........

I tried an "old", but "new" to me recipe today. This Dilly Casserole Bread is so easy to make. Time consuming but well worth the wait. I was given the recipe years ago from my aunt, but could not find it. So, I navigated the internet and found one with great pics at http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/

or, easier found by Googling Jan's Dilly Bread.
