One suitcase, two suitcase, three suitcase, four............

"Over the river and through the woods (o.m.g. the pavement turned into a pot marked swamp!) treasure hunting we will go"!!....(shift into 4-Wheel drive). What a "great" day..... cabin fever dusted off and hopefully not to return for another year! Don't get me wrong.... I love to spend a cozy day or two at home after Christmas, but umpteen.... No Thanks.

 

Treasures were found on Saturday, finally. After searching high and low locally the mother load was struck!!! Eureka. Nothing like a nice "hual" of vintage goodies!!!

 

Fairy Lights..........

 

I have been "fascinated" with fairy lights lately.....

I have seen blogs that have taken pic's of them hanging in an archway,

over a bed, or  throughout the hallway.

 Strung outside, or in.... they are a great replacement

 for when the Holiday's are over and your

ambient light from the tree is no longer.



A day..... Away......

Oh how I have missed the Country. It felt so good just to get out of the city

for a day... Into the rolling hills and.....

yes, into the "fragrance" of country living. It was nice to see a pen chock

full of chicken's (love the different variety). Reminiscent of my

Granddads farm.

I Love Saddle Shoes.............

 

I'm in love with Saddle Shoes, and always have been since the 7th grade. My mother used to cringe....because anything she "had" to wear growing up, she did not want to wear again in the 70's!!!

 

 

On occasion I have ran across these little gems at thrift stores, but never my size. Either they are way too small or too big. Would I wear them out and about now???

 

 

 I don't know, however I do believe if they were comfy I would wear them around my apartment!!! (and I would be very fashionable while taking out the rubbish)

My new favorite for summer......

This has been "at least", a once or twice a week favorite of mine. I have been making lettuce wraps with ground turkey, seasoned with just 1/4 packet of taco seasoning mix. Leaving the rice out and replacing with any veggies left in the fridge. Perfect for summer, light and crisp.

All I want for Christmas.....

All I want for Christmas this year, is some snow. Last year we only got a "smidge".... so sad. I found this cozy picture on the web last night and fell in love with it. So charming... I don't know where it was taken , but I have to say... I am just a little bit jealous! Christmas shopping in this town would be ideal.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everthing they have.

I love this book.......It has everything from A - Z. Style, dressing for certain occasions (especially if you are in question of what the attire should be) and accessorizing.  It is "chock" full of information on Parisian Style, with web sites included for shopping on line if you have the means to do so. Tips on giving flowers to storage and "flat" decorating. Good read, and pretty fast - easy to skip over subjects of no interest.

Sometimes you just need some encouraging words to help with what life has to "dish out" at times. It has been one of those weekends. I like to visit http://www.sewnwithgrace.com/ , every now and again.

Vintage Hat's........I needed to get out of "tree mode", seems that is all I have been blogging about and there is clearly a lot more going on these days. These are Vintage Hat's that my grandmother gifted me a very long time ago. She had mentioned that they were made in Nashville, Tn., although I'm really not sure about that. Aren't they lovely....pick your poison. I really have not had any use for them in probably 20 years, so they are going up for sale on my Etsy shop http://www.etsy.dishpanhands.com/. They really deserve to be shown off.

Working for a living...........

Sorry I haven't blogged in quite some time. I have been spending the weekend with my co-workers, all appreciating some much needed overtime. Times are tough right now and we were given the opportunity. And when opportunity knocks, you answer the door. All in all, when it's said and done....we will look back on our work with a smile. I hope you all have a great week. Spring is finally here and April is around the corner.

Always Accessorize................

This wonderful cigar box, my mother gave me when I was a teenager. She decorated it sometime in the early 1950's. She was always very "fashion" oriented..... full of style and grace. It reads "STATIONARY". I can't believe the inside vintage magazine photo's are still in-tact. I have always used it as a little keepsake box....It holds pieces of jewelry that were given to me as remembrance from someone that has passed on. It holds little trinket's that I found as a child, along with obituaries, wedding announcement's, my first watch, etc........

Death by frosting....what could be better. This little fella looks as though

he is celebrating Valentines Day just a wee bit early. I started my day with

a nice healthy breakfast of vanilla yogurt with granola, a healthy lunch, but

for some reason I am now craving white cake with white frosting....lot's of frosting.

79.....it ain't.

It is has not been very warm these past few week's. I don't know why I'm complaining, it is January. When I got up this morning, there was a dense fog lingering, and I just thought it may be a little "balmy" outside......wrong. It was still slightly bitter cold.
